MISHC 10th Anniversary Awards

MISHC is celebrating 10 years of continuous improvement in structural heart care.

MISHC Abstractor and Coordinator Mentoring Program mentors and mentees were recognized with certificates during the MISHC Coordinator Meeting in Novi on November 14th, 2025.

“Mentorship plays a crucial role in ensuring quality data collection, decreasing practice variables, promoting best practices, enhancing the quality of care of structural heart patients within the state of Michigan, and improving patient outcomes,” said MISHC Clinical Quality Improvement Lead, Sheryl Fielding, BSN, RN.

MISHC mentors’ and mentees’ commitment to fostering an environment of support and continuous learning has contributed to cultivating a collaborative, dedicated network. Their work exemplifies the transformative power of guidance and shared expertise.

Several consortium members received awards during the November 15th Collaborative Meeting. Award criteria included publication impact, commitment to quality, consistent QI performance, and coordinator and physician champion engagement.

McLaren Greater Lansing (Improved by 150% from 2020 - 2024

In evaluating 13 QI measures including:

  • TAVR goals
  • VBR goals
  • CMS requirements (KCCQ completion)

Improved from meeting goals at 60% in 2020 to being one of two sites meeting goals at 100% in 2024

Consistent QI Performance Award

Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital (met 88% of all goals from 2020 – 2024. The highest in the collaborative.)

In evaluating the same 13 QI measures as the improvement award including:

  • TAVR goals
  • VBR goals
  • CMS requirements (KCCQ completion)

Coordinator Engagement Award

Structural Heart Clinical Quality Specialist, Michigan Medicine

Brittany has:

  • been an overwhelming resource for TVT website functionality,

educating all MISHC coordinators on updates and features

  • worked closely with the TVT registry in dashboard and report development with the new version and twice presented at national TVT Quality Summit meetings
  • given educational and quality presentations at MISHC coordinator meetings nine times over the past ten years
  • shared job descriptions and quality templates for QI tracking
  • worked on KCCQ patient portals
  • connected structural heart coordinators with Michigan Medicine pharmacy

These examples illustrate the many ways Brittany has fostered statewide collaboration and knowledge sharing.
